Riptide 04:19
Hey, it’s just me, you know, the one you seldom see A faded memory A third son, peculiar one, but you know by now I won’t hit and run Wary walls, ironic calls now give me pause Oh my, oh my, oh my, worlds apart It shakes my heart And oh my, oh my, oh my, this divide It’s like a riptide No, I won’t let go, I will keep kind I’ll listen in, but I won’t play blind So hey, it’s just me, I’m checking in, dear absentees Can we clear the air What’s become of the three sons, has the demagoguery won Sure, I’m sentimental Oh, but now’s the time to recognize where we align It’s not hard to find Oh my, oh my, oh my, worlds apart And it breaks my heart Some say it’s out of your hands Dug into separate camps Leave (it) like a contraband But I’ve gotta believe There’s more to keep us together than to sever the tether Don’t prove me wrong Oh my, oh my, oh my, this divide It’s like a riptide No, I won’t let go, I will be kind And I’m listening, but I won’t act blind

Mistakes 04:02
I’ve seen all kinds of windows Windows that come and go Sometimes bright and beguiling And times I should’ve known Daniel, he sparked a fire Kamil, erased the bounds What’s life but a collection Of errors and lessons learned One, then five, then hazy-eyed Was a tiring theme for far too long What’s it worth, the back and forth But a spinning wheel to tempt a finger I know my own (memories are a) My own (key to the future) Go for miles All my mistakes But I’m gonna own ‘em I know my own (mental newsletter) My own (we could do better) Go for miles All my mistakes But I’m gonna own ‘em Yeah, you gotta own ‘em Said, I’m gonna own ‘em Nathan opened a window I jumped in And since day 1-2-5 I’ve been clear-eyed I have found my fox And I’m gonna keep him Mind is sound, no round and round Nor a spinning wheel To tempt a finger I know my own (memories are a) My own (key to the future) Go for miles All my mistakes But I’m gonna own ‘em I know my own (mental newsletter) My own (we could do better) Go for miles All my mistakes But I’m gonna own ‘em Yeah, you gonna own ‘em Said, I’m gonna own ‘em Hey, you gotta own ‘em Oh, I’m gonna own ‘em

Do you have a reason to exist at all So aimless and unyielding Our backs against the wall One hundred years of dreaming You were gone All hear your name, most feel endangered Few light a flame, to burn in echo chambers How did we get here Ego Disparities Amplified divisions, truth a free-for-all Derision veiled in freedom While I admit I’ve seen no stranger Time may reveal dreams of much saner Days we remember how we arrived here Or a return to Avarice Selfishness

Dance 03:31
As calm as the dawn before the twist Content as a gent who’s never been kissed The pace of this race could boil and ocean Oh, what a time to bang the drums Dance, dance, now’s your chance Bumbling bodies perhaps at first glance Dance from within or all around Dancing to shake the barriers down Believing is less a challenge Than believing in believers You know… You know… It’s true Dance, dance take a chance Fumbling figures from Burma to France Dancing to shake the ramparts down As sure as the rover is to return As clear as the fear behind the lectern The strife in one's life Could swell an ocean But oh what a time to bang… Believing is less a challenge Than believing in the messengers Believing is less a challenge Than believing in ambassadors You know… You know… It’s true

Bisq 03:11
Traveler, the mystery pulls your mind akin to gravity A wanderlust known to thrive deep inside of me With few exceptions Forty-five hundred miles and an ocean I crossed to get to you We started snowed-in at Sirena’s then Belleek just a preview The dawn of always Infinity’s debut We were locked down together for the better of two years And more obvious than ever, excitingly crystal clear It’s in your eyes It's in your eyes It's in your eyes Home’s in your eyes This is it, unwavering yesterday and evermore Whether wandering (the) streets of Greece Or in quarantine I’m yours My adonis (My) dancer in the dark Locked down together for the better of two years More obvious than ever, exceedingly crystal clear It’s in your eyes It's in your eyes It's in your eyes Home’s in your eyes It’s in your eyes In your eyes It’s in your eyes I live in your eyes In your eyes (It’s in your)

Mel 03:34
I, I’m you A shadow reminding me What not to do We, we’re you Fruit that blew off the tree Down the avenue Lunch dates and your holidays Were all I knew Hindsight intensifies All the silence from words unspoken They, they cared But when the darkness fell Who was there You were despite our sorrows Still loved, still valued That August day Missteps and mysteries were nothing new But when I remember you I see your smile And hear laughter too We’re all born fallible So sleep easy All heartache is forgiven We, we’re you Fruit that flew off the tree Down the avenue

about

That's me, age 8, and happy as a clam. And I swear, if I've ever looked cool, that was probably my moment. I've had a lot of monikers since then, but one that's endured the test of time is Nakoy, my mom's pet name for me, a variation of the Tagalog word for son (anak), and the name of this album.

In the interest of brevity (and our seemingly shrinking attention spans), let's just say the last few years were, ahem, interesting. Nakoy is my time capsule for those years. You'll hear me cover smash-hit subjects like lockdown love, common ground and alternative facts, and a final farewell to a father. Ultimately, Nakoy is rooted in reflection and an obstinate hope for humanity in times of heightened struggle and strife.

Thanks a million for listening.
